To visit Post-Graduate College is to open a treasure chest of history, tradition and pageantry ;one whose total contents defy description but from which, at least individual jewels can be picked and admired. TERI is one such precious jewel whose glitter intensifies with the passage of time. Ever since its inception in 1994, it has grown stronger and vibrant ,in harmony with the demands of time.
In April 1956, we formed the Degree College Association- a philanthropic society for promoting integration, creation and dissemination of knowledge. It is an umbrella association ,which has conceptualized and constituted from time to time, several academic, scientific and technical bodies, concordant with societal needs and global academic environment. Realizing the growth importance of technical and professional job-oriented education, we pioneered in offering MCA, MBA and Environmental Science courses - hitherto available at selected universities and engineering colleges - to students of eastern UP at most affordable cost.
There is no ostentatious display of academic wealth or grandeur at TERI, despite the fact that TERI graduates represent some finest corporate achievements in past several years. Proponents of profit-oriented and market driven business schools may not subscribe to our philosophy of propagating high quality Technical Education & Research Institute to all classes of society at subsistence costs, but we have successfully adhered to our principles, thanks to our faith in spiritual rather than material values.
Ushering value-based education that promotes human excellence and enhances competitive abilities in today's academic world is a Herculean task, considering the tremendous amount of distortion and contamination introduced by market forces. We have been accomplishing this task for a decade and have strong conviction of continuing to do so in years to come. As Chairman of TERI, I welcome you to this fascinating Institution.
